iPhone 7

There have been rumors going around about Apple releasing their newest and latest iPhone coming in September 2016. Every year Apple releases a new iPhone in their 4th quarter. And every other year that iPhone is a brand new phone, whereas the other year the iPhone released is an update to the one the previous year. For example;

Model name
Release date
iPhone
June 2007
iPhone 3G
June 2008
iPhone 3G S
June 2009
iPhone 4
June 2010
iPhone 4S
October 2011
iPhone 5
September 2012
iPhone 5S and 5C
September 2013
iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
September 2014
iPhone 6S
September 2015
iPhone 7
September 2016 (expected)

With this year being the release of a brand new iPhone, I was searching online to see what the new features were. I came across this article that explained some of the rumored features. These are just rumored. Because no one knows what the new iPhone with have until it is released. All we can do is guess.

Features

Sapphire Glass- there is talk that the new iPhone with have sapphire glass, instead of the Corning's Gorilla glass that is being used in the current iPhones. this type of glass is really strong, and not easily breakable (which is good if you’re like me and drop your phone all the time).

Button-Less Design- The home button will be eliminated, so that there is room for a bigger screen.

Wireless Charging- when reading this I was surprised that for once Apple is behind on the most up to date technology. Usually Apple is the ones that are setting the trends, and other companies are playing catch up. Now Apple is the one catch up to Samsung.

Water and Dust Proof- to give maximum protection to that device you just dropped major dough on, the iPhone 7 is rumored to be waterproof. The device won’t get damaged if submerged under water for 30 mins.

Cutting the fat! - it is rumored that this new phone will as thin as possible. The rumors also suggest that the company may ditch the headphone socket in an attempt to make the phone as thinner than ever. Because there will be no socket for your headphones, that are going to have wireless beats ear plugs.

With all these advance features that may be added to the newest iPhone, we can anticipate it being priced in the range of $800-$900. Which is about $150 more than the current iPhone.

When your cell phone dies, and you don't know what to do with yourself.

I am attached to my cell phone 24/7. I wish I could have it glued to myself.  I have noticed lately that I am addicted to my cell phone, and my social media apps. Every morning when I wake up, I have to check, in this order, Snapchat, then Instagram, then Timehop, then I check emails, and finally I scroll through Facebook. All of these before I even get out of bed.

I have also noticed that I am always looking at my phone when I am waiting. Just like most people. Have you ever walked in to a waiting room and actually saw people interacting? NO! they are always on their phones. People nowadays are always connected to their phones. There is something about being connected to the world In the palm of your hand, that people just can’t disconnect.  Hence the problem of texting and driving.  I will omit that I used to do it all the time. I had a problem with being able to ignore my phone when it goes off. It was like burning a hole in me.  I don’t do it anymore, because I have hands free in my car now. I think the hands free technology has cut down on texting and driving. But what I see more than ever, most in young women, is snapchatting and taking pictures while driving.  While driving yesterday I was pasting an accident, and I counted at least three people trying to take a picture of it, while their car was still moving.

I feel that the advances in technology that keeping use connected to our phones. We pretty much have a computer in our hands. The more advances in technology the less disconnect that people will become with the world.

The New "News"

Social Media is changing the way we consume news. News is now spreading faster than ever due to increased use of social media platforms. Social media has quickly become a place to discover breaking news. This is because social media platforms are able to post about breaking news stories before it will break on mainstream sources.  I remember hearing about Princes death on Facebook before seeing it on TV. TV networks are starting to jump on the social media bandwagon. When using Facebook and twitter I see that news shows are now starting to post news stories directly to social media. They have a bigger audience through social media than TV alone.

People of younger generations tend to view news online, rather then watch the news on TV. I use social media and the internet to find out about news. I don’t really watch the news; the only news I really watch is the 5 mins before The Tonight Show comes on. In this day and age when people heard about something big that has happened, they don’t go and turn on the news to find out about it.  They go straight to the internet and social media to find out. When using social media, we can view multiple stories and views of big news events. Versus just seeing one side on a news TV broadcast.  It also offers a way to get information about breaking news right away. I know that TV has breaking news stories, where they interrupt current shows to cut to the news broadcast, but to me personally I’d rather read about it on my own time. (also the breaking news stories can be really annoying when you’re trying to watch a show, especially if you’re like me and record your shows. Then you miss half your show because the news broadcast!)

Cyber Bullying Among Children.

Cyber bullying is very common among teenagers, children, and preteens and occurs when one is threatened, harassed, embarrassed or humiliated with digital and interactive technologies, the internet or with mobile phones. The methods used in cyber bullying by children are only limited to one's access to technology and imagination.

Cyber bullying can take different forms, It may involve sending threatening, and mean images or messages, posting private and sensitive information about another person and excluding someone from a social online group. Cyber bullying can as well be as simple as continuing an email sent by someone and sending it to someone else with unfriendly information about someone else. It can also be making fun and teasing someone.  It can as well be websites created where kids can vote against other kids.

Children could also take up cyber bullying for other reasons, like jealousy, revenge, and anger, and sometimes, they take up bulling for just entertainment. Some students also take up bullying so that they can feel better about themselves and to try to prove to other students that they are more powerful. They may try to do these to students who appear to be doing better than they in class or in other areas are. They may also bully other to revenge against an event that occurred to them where they were victims and now they want to be the bullies.

Cyber bullying has become so common in America because the bully usually remains anonymous and it becomes easy to bully without the risk of being caught.

Transmedia Storytelling in Sons of Anarchy

We live in a era where people are becoming emotionally invested in shows. and when the show ends, we don't want to let go. Fans use transmedia storytelling to continue the life of a show. Jenkins defines transmedia storytelling as “…a process where integral elements of a fiction get dispersed systematically across multiple delivery channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience” Fans use parody, blogs, books, comics, and fan fiction. these channels extend the story line, adding details and further look into characters that relate back to the original show.

FX’s Sons of Anarchy, a television show about a motorcycle club, uses transmedia story telling in many ways. One of the ways that they used TMS was when Appisodes were created, these were short mini episodes. they used these 3 minute episodes to show what might have gone on during big gaps in the original story line. at the end of season 3 the boys of SAMCRO were sent to prison. the first episode of season 4 is the day they are released. In one of the appisodes you get to watch them during incarceration, something viewers were not able to see in the actual show.  This goes in hand with Jenkins’s idea that “…transmedia stories are based not on individual characters or specific plots but rather complex fictional worlds which can sustain multiple interrelated characters and their stories…”. This addition to the story plot gives us more detail.

Having the right picture for your LinkedIn

An employer looks at three areas of your LinkedIn profile during the first few seconds of viewing the first thing that an employer will look at, is your profile picture. Having no picture could be worst then having a bad profile picture. A faceless candidate communicates an incomplete profile. This could be received as low motivation or enthusiasm for finding a job. A strong LinkedIn profile picture includes a couple key elements. A pleasant smile, a good photo is warm and welcoming. And professional attire. Not every job requires you to wear and suit and tie. But you should dress appropriately. Think about the job you’re going for and dress for your first day.  Don’t crop your face out of your vacation photos. Another thing to keep in mind, make sure your profile picture is just a picture of you. Employers don’t want to have to guess which one you are.  you should have a pleasing background. each color and background texture alters the emotional quality of the image. you should have an interesting angle. your profile picture isn't a mug shot, so don't look head on at the camera. instead try tilting your head slightly or look at the camera over the shoulder. and the last thing you should keep in mind when you are taking your picture, try to show some personality. you don's need a gimmick or prop in your photo, think about what you can do to show who you are and making your image memorable.

Has SnapChat gone to far?

420 is supposed to be about rollin and chillin’, but Snapchat has stirred up a tense response with its politically incorrect filter meant to celebrate the late reggae icon and weed lover, Bob Marley. To celebrate the unofficial holiday devoted to pot, the social-media service produced a filter that can make users look like Bob Marley. The filter puts Bob’s famous hat with dreads. But Snapchat didn’t stop there, they went as far as to put Bob Marley’s Face. This means for some people, that it will turn your face black.

This created so much uproar, that Snapchat put out a statement a couple hours after launching the filter,

“The lens we launched today was created in partnership with the Bob Marley Estate, and gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music,” the company wrote. “Millions of Snapchatters have enjoyed Bob Marley’s music, and we respect his life and achievements.”

Are Likes the New Votes?

Multiple politicians use social media platforms whether it is to drum up their campaign or show support towards their campaign party members. Political representatives commonly use Facebook or Twitter accounts in order to post various topics. However each politician and their team have different tactics as to how they address their readers and followers.

For example Donald Trump, has 7.5 million Twitter followers and 7 million Facebook fans that have liked his page. Trump also uses Instagram.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump?lang=en
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/realdonaldtrump/?hl=en

Donald Trump uses social media in an abrupt way, he is disarmingly honest and blunt, he happily expresses what he is thinking and may attack anyone or anything.

In 2012 Donald Trump posted on Twitter “Obama is, without question, the WORST EVER president. I predict he will now do something really bad and totally stupid to show manhood!”. Whether this is true or not, not many people would post this straight out because they would be cautious of the repercussions however Trump is happy to express exactly what he thinks.

Although Donald Trump has 4.5 million Facebook fans that does not mean that all of them agree with him or like him. They could simply be following him in order to get an update on the latest news or his opinion. Although politicians may have a massive amount of followers does not mean that they will get that many votes.

Google, My Own Personal Stalker

I believe that Goggle has too much power over the world. As the world’s biggest company, Google probably holds more data about us than anyone one else. This is because, Google is a technology giant that provides a variety of free services. Instead of paying in cash, you pay by providing information about yourself, which Google can use for advertising.  You’ve likely noticed this already. Search for a new car and suddenly, as if by magic, ads from local car dealers begin to appear. But have you ever wondered exactly what Google really knows about you?

How Much Does Google Really Know About You?

From Visually.
